Early days
I was born on the 5th of November in 1964 in Valletta - MALTA. I am the younger of two and my sister Josephine, is three years older.
At just 2 years, I started my primary education at the Pillar Primary School in Valletta and followed my secondary education at the Saint Paul's Missionary College in Rabat where after the five year term there I sat for my 'O' Level examinations. I continued my Higher Secondary education at the New Lyceum in Msida were I prepared for my 'A' Level examinations in Accountancy, Cost and Management Accounting, Maltese and Religious Studies. However following that I had to give up University following the death of my father.
Middle years
My first work experience started in 1984/5 as a part-time Accountancy teacher in Maria Assumpta girls' secondary school. Later on that same year I sat for the examination for the post of clerk with the Banking sector. I was successful and joined Bank of Valletta plc on the 1st of October 1985. I was posted to one of the Bank's Branches in Birkirkara where I started gathering my first experience in Domestic Banking during my first year. This followed by a posting within the Advances Section for four and a half years. After that I moved on to the Bank's Commercial Foreign business and after almost 10 years since joining the company,
The present
I was promoted to the post of Signatory. I was posted to a specialised department within the Advances section. However this only lasted 10 months as, due to my interests in Information Technology, I was selected as an IT Auditor within the Bank's Internal Audit Services Department. I have to admit that an auditor's job is not easy but I am ready for the challenging career ahead.
Half way through my career with the Bank, I met my wife Marquita. Yes we were colleagues. We got married on the 14th September 1996 and now live in a Birkirkara.
After nine years of happy marriage we are now the proud parents of two boys who we named ~ Nigel & Neil.
Interests
My interests are many but I think that I spend most of the time keeping abreast with Information Technology, Computers and the HiFi Industry.
Hobbies
Hobbies? Oh I had a lot. But sadly enough I find that I always have to give most of them up due to lack of spare time, cost, other commitments etc. Speaking of other commitments, I think you may like to know that I spend a lot of time changing nappies and feeding bottles.
Still Photography was my first. I did quite well and I managed to snap a couple of winning shots. However, though nowadays I always take my video camera with me instead, I still have the equipment and one day I hope to refresh my faded skills. Yes after Nigel's birth, my Nikon camera found the light of day again and I'm snapping photos of our kid very often.
Cars and all that is related to them is a lifelong passion. I was so addicted to the wheel that by age 10 I could drive a car on my own. By age 16 I was racing others in a disused military air strip in my cousin's modified saloon. This was still a good 2 years before the attaining the legal age of applying for my own driving license. Nowadays I have my own modified racing saloon which I race in an amateur Hill Climb Championship. I won the 1993 Group II Class III Hillclimb and Sprint championship. I have taken up two courses in automobile mechanics and after many years of reading and practice with other friends and professionals, I am glad to have tuned my own car and a friend's to winning levels. As a sideline (and a very mind relaxing hobby) I work as an Automotive Repair Technician for some friends and relatives.
HiFi, Music and Home Cinema! What can I say. I can't stop listening to good music or watching a good movie and I like to have good equipment to play and watch it on, so I am frequently upgrading in search of the best sound and visual experience.
Computers and the Internet. Well most of you reading this would share the same feelings. The minute you read about one thing in computers or upgrade to the latest technology, it is already history, almost obsolete! And the Net? A 'drug' that you find yourself addicted to in no time.
Well enough said now. I will update this page as our life unfolds.
